Never confuse statistics with well thought out, reasoned conclusions. I have noticed there is a lot of that going on lately. Statistics are the wood; conclusions are the fire. We tend to put the cart before the horse. Brightly colored pie charts and graphs are more fun than thinking, but not an adequate replacement for thinking. They are just tools open to interpretation. Spin doctors make big bucks twisting statistics to fit scenarios that match their agendas.
